Blog Post #5

I have learned that in order to have sound research under your belt, you need to pick a knowledgeable topic that could still have room to grow. One of the more difficult parts of this process was trying to identify research gaps, so if you're able to think of a topic that comes with gaps included, that will be easier for you to build your own research off of. I also really liked doing the literature review because I've never fully so thoroughly examined my sources and seen how they would hinder or add to what I've written. This will be something I keep in mind when doing regular papers going forward.  These processes have helped me realize that in my future career and role, I need to be attentive to detail, and precise in the activities that I will be doing. If I had merely skimped over some of the details for certain aspects, I wouldn't be as prepared for the future assignments we had to do. I also learned ways that I could manage my time better in order to fully cove...

Blog Post #4 Plans for Revision

I need to revise the actual formatting of my proposal since I worded it in the future tense. I don't know if the formatting needs to be done in the future tense since it is only a proposal but I will be doing more research into that. I also need to put more thought into the actual research method that I will be using and how that method will best benefit what I'm wanting to get across. I also was really confused with the section of the preliminary implications, so I plan to spend more time and thought into how the listed bullet points could fit into my proposal. Israel also proposed that I tweak my final conclusion so I will be revising that as well.

Blog Post #3 Research Gap

From my literature review, I noticed that there was a lot of research done on the difference/benefits between the two mediums of reading from the digital and physical book perspective. However, I couldn't find much research on the benefits that each medium would prove, for authors themselves. Studying the difference between the two mediums in regards to how authors can best promote their work and interact with their readers would be important for future authors to consider when undertaking their own stories. There were other research gaps as well regarding certain studies that could be conducted to strengthen my initial question such as: the kinds of literature that should be digital-only, the impact on costs for students who interact with authors and their works at a university-level, and data collected from libraries with the promotion of certain books and writers. Being able to cover these questions I feel would help me cover a part of the gap on how authors could better choose...

Blog Post #2 on Research Topic and 10 Tentative Sources

I will be researching the difference between electronic and print books on the economy, reader comprehension, and education. The majority of the sources that I was able to find touched on the subject of electronic books being used in education, and how that affected the students' understanding of certain subjects. Each of these sources included either qualitative and quantitative studies, so I plan to expound on the data collected from these studies. One of the other sources that I found, talked about set prices for print books versus electronic books, and how it impacts the economy. Another source that I found defined what an electronic book is and the advantages to using it versus a physical book. A different source also argues specifically against the use of electronic books due to educational and economical reasons, so I believe this will be a good contrast to use.  10 Tentative Sources:      Cavanaugh, T. (2002). Ebooks and accommodations: is this the future of ...

Blog Post #1 on Topic Interests

One of the topics that I have an interest in, is the difference between an online publication of a book and the physical publication of a book. There are a few specific platforms that help authors self-publish, such as iBooks, Barnes and Noble Press, Kindle Direct Publishing, Wattpad, and more. With streaming services seeming to be more popular than movie theaters and popping in a DVD, researching about how this trend could be happening in the literature world, would be interesting. Following this kind of idea could bring a mixed method of research opportunities and could really show the advantages and disadvantages of self-publishing or having online-only copies of books.       Another topic that would be really interesting to study is the effectiveness of dating apps. A lot of qualitative, as well as quantitative research could help piece together what apps would be best to use, and if they should be used at all. Following this idea, would also ...
